  • Cell library database and timing verification and withstand voltage verification systems for integrated circuit using the same

    Publication number: 20040040004

Abstract: In a cell library database, timing verification is conducted on an LSI which exists in a variable power supply system capable of changing the source voltage arbitrarily and which includes logic delay information associated with a plurality of source voltages. The database is configured, for example, so that the voltage information V of the source is represented in multiple bits V [1:0] and delay times Alh (Vlh) to Bhl (Vhh) between the time input signals A and B are each changed and the time the output signal Y changes are described for respective pieces of source voltage information LH (1.2 V), HL (1.5 V) and HH (1.8 V). This allows timing verification in the variable source system which operates with the source voltage changed dynamically.

  • Electronic driver circuit that utilizes resonance with load circuitry in combination with timed switching to reduce power consumption

    Patent number: 6140848

Abstract: A driver circuit (18) generates a circuit output signal (V.sub.DO) which is provided to an electrical conductor (12) that furnishes a conductor output signal (V.sub.BO) to a load (14). The circuit and conductor output signals make corresponding circuit and conductor output transitions approximately between a pair of output voltage levels (V.sub.SS and V.sub.DD) between which there is an intermediate voltage level (V.sub.HH). Inductance (LB) and capacitance (CB and CL) of the conductor and load produce resonance that enables the conductor output signal to largely complete each conductor output transition while the circuit output signal is being held at or close to the intermediate voltage level for a short period. The circuit output signal rapidly completes each circuit output transition after the intermediate-level holding period is over. By operating in this manner, energy is re-used in a resonant manner, thereby substantially reducing power consumption.

  • Differential amplifier using voltage level shifting to achieve rail-to-rail input capability at very low power supply voltage

    Patent number: 4918398

Abstract: A differential amplifier coupled between sources of a high supply voltage (V.sub.HH) and a low supply voltage (V.sub.LL) contains a pair of differential portions (30 and 32) that are used to amplify a differential input signal (V.sub.11 and V.sub.12). One of the differential portions is turned on when the common-mode voltage of the input signal is in a portion of the supply range extending up to the high supply voltage. The other is turned on when the input common-mode voltage is in a portion of the supply range extending down to the low supply voltage. A level-shift circuit (38, 40, 42, 44, and 46) selectively raises or loweres the voltages at input points (P1, P2, P3, and P4) to the differential portions. The level shifts extend the conductive ranges of the differential portions. This enables the amplifier to achieve rail-to-rail input capability down to 1 volt or slightly less for the power supply voltage.
